Open Source Platform
for interconnected virtual worlds
A new version of realXtend is available
RealXtend is an open-access, free-for-all platform that includes all the necessary components for creating a network of independent and interconnected virtual worlds. The platform was originally launched in February 2008, and a new version is now available. RealXtend has unique avatar services that are separated from the virtual worlds, enabling the avatars to travel freely through the realXtend network and take their inventory with them wherever they go. The avatars in realXtend are highly sophisticated and easily modified. In realXtend, the virtual worlds can be populated with mesh objects in addition to primitives.
Version 0.31 of the realXtend platform includes several new features; e.g. smoother transition between virtual worlds and the possibility to send instant messages from one world to another. User rights management for virtual world servers has been improved and new global inventory and post-processing effects for the viewer have been created. New versions for both viewer and server available on our downloads page.
