New projects on SourceForge
The Virtual Worlds 2008 is just around the corner (April 3-4, New York). The realXtend team's representative has been invited to participate in the open source round table and he will be present during the entire conference. Expect timely day-to-day coverage on our website.
The OpenLife grid has nominated the realXtend client as their official viewer. OpenLife is a Global Community 3D Metaverse built with opensource technology from the opensimulator project, their current user base is over 14.000, which makes them the biggest open source grid.
Steve Sima, founder of the Openlife: "We are pleased to be offering the realXtend Viewer to our 14,000+ users. Offering direct connection, dual modes (realXtend & Standard), our users have been fast adopters experimenting with some of the unique realXtend features such as meshes. The Openlife views realXtend's presence in the Openlife as enriching and user friendly, and the viewer has fast become a favourite amongst content creators. We look forward to the further development of the viewer as a long term solution to connecting to the Openlife Grid."
The realXtend viewer project is now on Sourceforge. It is licensed under GPL and everyone can download and examine the code. We're looking forward to getting talented contributors to the project. https://sourceforge.net/projects/realxtendviewer/
